ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

Beyond the Academic Program

While the Deledda Master in Creative Writing & Translation is grounded in academic rigor and structured mentorship, it is also designed to offer a set of distinctive experiences that enrich the learning environment and strengthen the sense of community

These elements are not conceived as extras or entertainment, but as integral components of a program that understands writing as a lived, social, and cultural practice

LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

During each residency, the program includes:

  • At least one full day of workshops or seminars held outdoors, in an inspiring location within the Sinis Peninsula, allowing students to engage with landscape, history, and place as creative stimuli

These sessions are designed to connect writing practice with environment, observation, and shared experience

RECOGNITION OF CREATIVE WORK

To encourage focus, experimentation, and commitment during residency weeks, the program awards:

  • a Residency Writing Award for the most compelling piece produced during each in-person session

The award is symbolic rather than competitive in nature, and aims to recognize originality, risk-taking, and depth of engagement

VISITING FACULTY & SPECIAL EVENTS

In addition to the core teaching staff, the Master regularly hosts:

  • visiting professors and writers of high international standing, invited to contribute through lectures, readings, or masterclasses
  • special sessions that expose students to diverse literary traditions and professional perspectives

These encounters reinforce the program’s international orientation and expand its intellectual network

SHARED CULTURAL MOMENTS

Residencies also include informal evening gatherings designed to strengthen community and dialogue, such as:

  • a shared evening featuring local music and a communal meal, reflecting Sardinian traditions
  • opportunities for informal readings, conversations, and exchange beyond scheduled classes

These moments support the creation of a temporary but intense creative community, a defining feature of the low-residency model

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

To ensure clarity and accessibility for international students, tuition fees are payable in two equal installments

50%

Due upon enrollment, confirming acceptance into the program

50%

Due at the beginning of the second year of study

This payment structure reflects common practice among international low-residency MFA programs and allows students to plan their financial commitment over time

A DISTINCTIVE EXPERIENCE

Together, these elements contribute to a learning experience that is deeply rooted in place, intellectually rigorous, and human in scale

They reflect the program’s commitment to offering more than a purely academic curriculum—an experience that remains meaningful well beyond the duration of each residency

Specific activities and events may vary from year to year and will be communicated in advance to enrolled students.

Fees Updates and Policies

Tuition fees are set for each academic cycle and may be adjusted over time. Any changes will apply only to future cohorts and will be clearly communicated before enrollment.
Detailed financial policies, including refund and withdrawal conditions, will be provided to admitted students prior to enrollment

Prospective students with questions regarding tuition, payment schedules, or financial planning are encouraged to contact the program office for guidance.
