The faculty of the Deledda Master in Creative Writing & Translation brings together internationally recognized novelists, poets, translators, and scholars whose work spans multiple languages, traditions, and cultural contexts.

The program is grounded in a deliberately academic-creative model: published authors and award-winning translators work alongside scholars of literature and discourse, creating an environment where artistic practice is supported by intellectual rigor.

Our faculty members have taught in leading MFA and graduate programs across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Their books have been translated into numerous languages, received major international awards, and contributed to ongoing global literary conversations.

Together, the faculty forms an ecosystem of complementary expertise — from long-form fiction and poetry to experimental prose, translation, editorial practice, and narrative theory — united by a shared commitment to excellence, dialogue, and cross-cultural exchange.

An International Faculty

Teaching in the Deledda Master in Creative Writing & Translation is provided by an international faculty of writers, translators, and educators with established reputations in their respective fields

Faculty members are selected for the quality of their creative work, their experience in mentoring writers and translators, and their involvement in international literary and academic contexts. The program brings together voices from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, reflecting the global nature of contemporary literature

The faculty structure is designed to ensure close interaction, continuity, and a high level of individual attention throughout the program

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The program’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that creative writing and translation are practices developed over time through sustained work, critical dialogue, and mentorship

Workshops, lectures, readings, seminars, and individual tutorials:

  • close reading and attentive listening;
  • rigorous engagement with craft and form;
  • constructive, respectful critique;

VISITING FACULTY & GUEST WRITERS

In addition to the core faculty, the program regularly invites visiting writers, translators, and scholars to contribute to residencies through lectures, readings, workshops, or masterclasses

Guest faculty play an important role in expanding students’ perspectives, exposing them to different approaches, and strengthening the program’s international network

Faculty–Student Ratio

To preserve the quality of mentoring and teaching, the program operates with small cohorts and a deliberately low faculty–student ratio

This structure allows for meaningful engagement, individualized feedback, and sustained relationships between students and mentors—key elements of the low-residency model
