ADMISSION
The Deledda Master in Creative Writing & Translation welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds who share a serious commitment to writing, language, and sustained creative work
Prior publication is not required. What matters most is motivation, openness to critique, and readiness to engage in sustained creative practice
WHO SHOULD APPLY
The program is particularly suited to:
- aspiring and emerging writers in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry
- professionals working in cultural, editorial, and creative industries
- translators and teachers seeking advanced creative training
- mid-career individuals wishing to deepen or reorient their artistic practice
- working professionals who require a flexible structure compatible with ongoing commitments
- writers at different stages of development who are ready for serious engagement with craft
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Applicants typically hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification. However, the program recognizes that creative and intellectual development can follow many paths
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
As the program is taught entirely in English, applicants must demonstrate a good level of proficiency in written and spoken English sufficient to participate fully in workshops, seminars, and mentoring
The Master is fully prepared to launch the Creative Writing track in Autumn 2026
The Literary Translation track is equally ready to begin and will be activated upon the formation of a minimum cohort of two students.
This flexible structure allows the program to maintain its commitment to intensive mentoring, small-group excellence, and academic quality
APPLICATION MATERIALS
A complete application includes:
- a completed application form
- a statement of purpose outlining the applicant’s creative interests and motivations
- a writing sample in English (original work; translation samples may be included where relevant)
- a curriculum vitae or brief biographical statement

- the quality and potential of the writing sample
- the applicant’s capacity for sustained creative work
